Todays walk was a rather misty damp affair! We started off just outside Standen House, then across towards Weir Wood Reservoir and over to Stone Hill Rocks then we crossed the Bluebell line and had a lovely coffee and snack at Kingscote Vinyards finally continuing over towards Saint Hill Manor, the home of L Ron Hubbard and the Church of Scientology and back to the car park at Standen . . . about 8.5km in all.
Standen House and Gardens, always worth a visit, especially if you haven’t already beenSome very weird spiders webs all over some piles of hay . . . . anyone know what kind of spiders made these?Very misty in the distance but rather beautiful anyway . . . Looking out across Weir Wood Reservoir, loads of bird life on the lake but my lens just wasn’t long enough to see them clearly . . .Up to stone Hill Rocks. An amazing sandstone outcrop that just seems totally out of place!Looking down from the rocks onto part of Kingscote Vinyards . . . . My gorgeous wife, Fran, Watching some climbers try to climb something REALLY silly!That’s the REALLY silly, but unfortunately the angle doesn’t show haw hard it is . . . You can either walk along the bottom of the rocks or the top, today we chose the bottom . . .Rather them than me, it was very slippery out there today!Mum watching on in horror . . . and yes I did ask if I could take this!!Mum helping one of the kids down . . . The vin yards just go on and on . . . fine by me, MORE WINE!Up the steep bank to the Bluebell Railway. Unfortunately no trains at the moment due to lockdown!The Bluebell Railway heading of towards Sheffield Park . . . I just thought I’d get a little artistic with the rail . . . A derelict barn, perfect for a grunge and contrasty fashion shoot . . . mental note made!And into Kingscote for some light refreshment . . . unfortunately no wine by the glass today but very nice coffee and an amazing chocolate brownie!Kingscote front door . . . Soooooo much wine and some amazing deals at the moment. I can recommend their white sparkling, gorgeous!Heading back out through even more vin yards . . . I was amazed how many grapes were still left on the vines! Anyone know if they are used for anything or just recycled into the soil?Finally back past Saint Hill Manor, the home of the Church of Scientology and also the home of it’s founder L Ron Hubbard . . . Finally one lovely “random” shot of a nicely repurposed old style phone box. Now full of a beautiful flower arrangement . . .
