Lockdown Walks

Lockdown Walks – No2 – 6th Nov 2020

  • November 6, 2020

So now we are onto the 2nd day of the 2nd National lockdown and another walk, this time over towards Worth Abbey and back through Worth Forest. A stunning morning and a great day for toadstools and fungus . . .

Just a pretty bush with the sunlight shining through it . . .
Many fir trees lose their needles, but first they turn a beautiful golden colour . . .
Stunning example of moss covering a tree . . .
Mmmmmm . . . chestnuts for the stuffing . . . . sooo many to be had!
No idea what kind of fungus this is, but interesting nevertheless . . .
Rhododendrons flowering in November!!!!
Rhododendrons flowering in November!!!!
Beautiful berries . . . no idea what other than NOT holly!
New growth on the fir trees already . . .
Probably best not to eat these, but there were hundreds . . .
As I said, hundreds and several different varieties I think . . .
Leaf strewn forest floor . . . at least is covers the mud . . .
I strongly suggest you DO NOT eat this one . . . hallucinogenic I’m told!
Same variety as before, just younger . . . best leave well alone.

That’s it for day 2, lets see what lies ahead for the next month of walks. I promise, I will try to catalogue what is going on in the forest and lake EVERY day through lockdown . . . at least it gives me something to do!
